Where opera meets football,
time to act!

Do you BELIEVE in OPERA?
Do you believe in FOOTBALL?
I’m Anna Mikhailova and I choose for both.
Imagine, 3 football teams, an opera, and an audience, all together in one place, creating the performance, and YOU can be part of it!
I am still busy creating my latest project - a combination of opera and football, in one multi-disciplinary performance with:
3 teams,1 goalkeeper, 21 balls, 9 saxophones,8 organs,10 voices,Mother of Jesus, Jeanne D’Arc, Margaret Thatcher, Lucebert-Lucifer, Asger Jorn, Guy Debord and you!
As you can imagine, this is quite an undertaking, and although I do not usually ask for help, in this case, I truly believe that this project is worth it. With this in mind, I started a funding campaign for the first time in my life, and it ends in two weeks.
Because of the lack of support I had to cancel the première (November 2015)and at the moment preparing future steps and you are welcome to share with me your ideas via annamikhailova.info@gmail.com
Where is the story in football and where is the game in opera?
It has always been an OPERA, holding her BREATH in the corner of our universe. The XXIst century is the time for her to rise, to free her from her shell, and to let her meet an attractive, physical and playful football game.
Of course, my goal is not to make a performance of football players running around while singing Wagner. I am developing the elements of the football and opera to integrate them more deeply, so they will reinforce one another. Opera should learn from football how to inspire the happy intensity of feeling that you are present, as you watch teams playing with the ball. I am curious to see how football ACTIVITY can grow within the RULES OF OPERA.
It is about TRADITION and TRANSFORMATION.
It is about YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE and everyone else.
It is always about UNIVERSAL versus PERSONAL, as we know without a team there is no football, but what is football without a ball and opera without the voice?
WHO is the HERO of opera today?
ULTIMATE GAME is part of a sequence of operas, on which I have worked for the last five years, inspired by the lives and thoughts of the Situationists. Searching for the hero and the story of my NEW OPERA PROJEC five years ago, I came across the art and works of this group of artists and thinkers Situationists International, a movement of the 50s, 60 and 70s, associated with ideas like the New Babylon Project, the Dérive and the Society of the Spectacle.
Through their international approach, through working directly within everyday life and not only with paintings and performances, but through an extensive body of theoretical writing, they have influenced the reality we live in today.
Our WORLD, whether we want it or not, was CREATEd by the generation of our grandfathers and grandmothers. The Situationists International were most known for envisioning a revolutionary new world, beyond the restrictions of everyday life in capitalism, a world in which work would be given to machines and life would be an adventure.
They are of the generation of my grandparents. Real people, with their own life experience, not scientifically proven molecules or elves from a fantasy world, far apart from our reality. No, they were real, they thought and wrote for real, they were trying to work their way through/out of the reality they found themselves in. That is inspiring. My work explores how their thoughts remain fertile for us, today, more than six decades after 1950s. Can we today still think a better world to live in?
I do BELIEVE that opera can be more than a museum and period drama sung bell canto, and with every opera I make, I challenge myself to find new activities and areas for expressing this idea.
In order to renew itself for our society, OPERA needs the SITUATION, which will bring the NEW EXPERIENCE, in which you are not expected to know everything in advance, but free to experience the MOMENT through active PRESENCE.
